Hi Team Allstate,
Thanks for sponsoring this project! We’ve been reading about all the great work you’ve done with Champions of Good and would be really excited to help you cover your upcoming Books for Africa event with Dominique Wilkins.
With a core team that has been working together for the past 5 years, we’ve been Tongal’s #1 ranked producer for the past couple years, and have a proven track record of delivering successful videos.
We specialize in documentary-style branded content (McDonald’s, Rit Dye, Scope, Naked Juice, Disney, General Electric, and IAMS). We approach each story with an open mind, and look for seamless ways to connect the narrative with the brand. Our spots feel authentic in part because of the warm environment we create on our shoots, in which actors and non-actors alike can relax and give us their best stuff. To see what we mean, check out our McDonald’s spot, in which we profile a group of unlikely marathoners.
We have extensive experience with multi-camera event videography and its unique challenges (you only get 1 take!). Most recently we filmed a solar energy event for the Department of Energy, and flew to China to film Lenovo’s global conference, Tech World. We’ve also covered events like the Boston Music Awards and Women in Comedy Festival, and we got our start shooting multi-camera concert videos and BTS footage for clients like Saddle Creek Records, Neon Indian, Average White Band, and Azure Ray.
We’re looking forward to learning more about what you’re hoping to convey in the video and the desired tone, style, and target audience. Reading through the event plan and reviewing the shot list inspired some initial brainstorming. Not sure if they will all fit into your vision, but thought we’d share some ideas to see if they resonate:
- The personal connection between each volunteer and the book they are donating is compelling. It could be neat to get shots of individual volunteers holding up their books and saying a few words about why they’re important to them.
- Is Dominique bringing a book to donate? We could do this with him as well.
- Along those same lines, we could get some shots of volunteers writing their messages in the books. We could record them reading it separately and then in the final video we’ll see them writing their inscription while we hear their voice reading it.
- Highlighting a few of these volunteers could be a good way to show how everyone can make a difference. Its the many individual efforts of volunteers that combine to create substantial impact.
- It could be good to capture some moments of Dominique interacting with one of the volunteers and see if we can get some soundbites that way. Hearing Dominique in different contexts will add richness to the video (speaking to an audience, interacting with audience in Q&A, and also interacting on a casual/personal level).
- During the book sorting/packing in the warehouse, try to get fun, dynamic shots of volunteers interacting with each other, laughing, talking about the books, etc.
We’ll have more ideas when we get a better sense of the goal/exposure of the project, the tone you’re looking for, etc. Let us know if you have any feedback or questions. You can check out some highlights from our event and branded documentary portfolio below.
Thanks for considering us! Best of luck with the project. This would be super fun to produce (and as an aside, we’re fans of Allstate’s Mayhem campaign!) so hope that we’ll be able to be a part of it.
Cheers,
Meghan and John
